Meet Licensing Requirements

All contractors working with boiler, pressure vessel and refrigeration (BPVR) equipment must be licensed by Technical Safety BC. Licensing requires the submission of a Quality Control Program Manual. Find more information at the following links:

LICENSE A - Boiler, Pressure Vessels, and Pressure Piping

  • Installation, repair, or alteration of boilers and pressure vessels, including construction of boiler external piping conforming to CSA B51, and following any applicable code(s).

  • Construction, installation, hot tapping, repair, or alteration of pressure piping conforming to CSA B51 and following any applicable code(s).

  • Pressure piping.

LICENSE B - Limited Capacity Boilers, Pressure Vessels, Pressure Piping

  • Install, maintain, and repair the following plant types:

    • Fluid heating plants of 75 m2 or less of heating surface.

    • Steam heating plants of 30m2 or less heating surface.

    • Power plants of 10m2 or less of heating surface; and

    • Water heaters with inputs exceeding 120 kW.

  • Install and maintain:

    • Pressure vessels associated with the above plants; and

    • Pressure piping associated with the above plants.

LICENSE Ap - Pressure Piping

  • Construction, installation, hot tapping, repair, or alteration of pressure piping conforming to CSA B51 and following any applicable code(s).

LICENSE Au - Vessels, Pressure Piping

  • Installation, repair, or alteration of pressure vessels conforming to CSA B51, and following any applicable code(s).

  • Construction, installation, hot tapping, repair, or alteration of pressure piping conforming to CSA B51 and following any applicable code(s).

LICENSE MA - Manufacturing Shop

  • Assembly, manufacture, or construction of boilers, including boiler external piping conforming to CSA B51, and following the applicable ASME construction code(s).

  • Assembly, manufacture, or construction of pressure vessels conforming to CSA B51, and following the applicable ASME construction code(s).

  • Assembly, manufacture, or construction of pressure fittings conforming to CSA B51, and following the applicable ASME construction code(s).

  • Assembly, manufacture, or construction of pressure piping conforming to CSA B51 and following the applicable ASME construction code(s).

LICENSE PW - Pressure Welding

  • Pressure welding on regulated items while subcontracted by a class A, Au, Ap, B, or REF contractor’s license holder, including welding on pressure piping, refrigeration piping, and boiler external piping conforming to CSA B51 and following any applicable code(s).

LICENSE REF - Boilers, Pressure Vessels, and Refrigeration

  • Installation, maintenance, repair and alteration of refrigeration systems, plants, and equipment; including construction of refrigeration pressure piping, and installation of pressure vessels associated with refrigeration plants.

LICENSE SRV - Safety Valve and Relief Valve Service

  • Safety valve and relief valve testing, maintenance, and repair; of registered safety / relief valves conforming to CSA B51 and following any applicable code(s).
